Welcome to the weekly 7th grade update! These emails are designed to keep you up to date on what's happening inside and outside the classroom here in the seventh grade.
General News
- Spring Conferences are THIS WEEK! Teachers will schedule conferences for students who will benefit from another meeting at this point in the year, but otherwise, this round is optional. Please feel free to contact Mr. Piza or Mr. Logan for a conference if you have any concerns about your child or simply want to touch base. SIGN UP BY CLICKING HERE.
- Volunteer Opportunity - Interested in walking or running? Have some free time to volunteer? Our 100 Mile Club chapter is planning a 5K walk/run event and need your help. Reading
We will begin a new unit working with poetry. The unit will be taught by Shannon Coyne, a student teacher working in the 7th grade. The unit will help cover a broad base of poetry structures as well as analysis of poetry. If the are any poets in our community, we are always to happy to bring in volunteers.
Writing
Students will finish with murder mysteries (argumentative writing) and begin transitioning over to essay writing with arguments.
EfS
This week, we'll have committees assigned for the 1st Annual DGS 5k on Community Day in April. Students will also begin work in earnest on planning!
Math
In preparation for state-wide testing in March, we are taking a look at topics in statistics and geometry over the next few weeks. We'll formally explore these topics in more detail later in the year as well. Remember to check your student's SchoolNet account for quiz results and check here for assignments and lessons.
