Welcome to the weekly 7th grade update! These emails are designed to keep you up to date on what's happening inside and outside the classroom here in the seventh grade.
General News
- Spring Conferences are coming on February 24th - 27th. Teachers will schedule conferences for students who will benefit from another meeting at this point in the year, but otherwise, this round is optional. Please feel free to contact Mr. Piza or Mr. Logan for a conference if you have any concerns about your child or simply want to touch base.
- PJ Day for the Homeless - Our 3rd grade buddies are hosting a fund raiser supporting the Denver homeless population. Students may wear pajamas to school on Thursday this week if they bring $1 to donate for the fund raiser. Students may also donate any amount without wearing pajamas.
- Volunteer Opportunity - Interested in walking or running? Have some free time to volunteer? Our 100 Mile Club chapter is planning a 5K walk/run event and need your help. If you're interested in volunteering your time either during the event or in preparation, we can use you. Please contact Mr. Logan at [email protected]. Thanks!
Reading
We will begin working on a presentation in history combining multiple sources to answer a guiding question about a topic from medieval history.
Writing
Students will finish an on-demand writing prompt in which they describe and analyze a literary big idea in a short story.
EfS
International Towne was a fantastic experience! Students had a great time grappling with issues facing the global economy, currency exchange and trade. It probably didn't hurt that Canada sold blue slushies either. THANK YOU to all the volunteers who supported us in making this a great event. We will definitely be back again next year. This week, we've been debriefing our experience and taking final assessments for the unit.
Math
We are continuing are work with equations and expressions this week. Encourage your student to allow the math to be confusing until we have the right amount of practice. We'll get better with more time to practice. Remember to check your student's SchoolNet account for quiz results and check here for assignments and lessons. We are in lessons 3 and 4 this week. Remember, tutoring is held Tuesday afternoons, 3:45-4:45!

Tuesday - Lesson 3: Problem Set #1-5.
Wednesday - Lesson 4: Problem Set # 1-7 (plus practice).
