Welcome to the weekly 7th grade update! These emails are designed to keep you up to date on what's happening inside and outside the classroom here in the seventh grade.
General News
- PARCC Testing is coming in two weeks. The math tests will be held on the 17th and 18th while reading and writing tests will take place on the 23rd - 25th. Remember to give students lots of rest to do their best on the test! Also, we'd love donations of healthy snacks and bottled water. Please send donations of snacks and/or water with your child beginning next week. Thank you!
- Daylight Savings is coming this Sunday. Remember to spring forward and turn your clocks forward an hour.
- Volunteer Opportunity - Interested in walking or running? Have some free time to volunteer? Our 100 Mile Club chapter is planning a 5K walk/run event and need your help. If you're interested in volunteering your time either during the event or in preparation, we can use you. Please contact Mr. Logan at [email protected]. Thanks!
Reading
We are working on our poetry unit. Students are exploring the 6 elements of poetry through regular poetry analysis.
Writing
Students have been assigned a topic for our upcoming issues debates. This week we will work on organizing our affirmative arguments for our Lincoln Douglas debates that we will conduct in a couple weeks.
EfS
This week, committees will continue meeting and planning for the 1st Annual DGS 5k on Community Day in April.
Math
We're continuing our work on data and having deeper discussions about which measure of center best describes a set of data: mean, median, or mode. Remember to check your student's SchoolNet account for quiz results and check here for assignments and lessons.
Homework
Monday - Stem-and-Leaf & Box-and-Whisker Plot.
Tuesday - Interpreting Box & Whisker Plots #1 - 10.
Wednesday - Lesson 1: #1 - 7 (plus practice).
Thursday - Lesson 4: #1 - 6 (plus practice).
