Welcome to the weekly 7th grade update! These emails are designed to keep you up to date on what's happening inside and outside the classroom here in the seventh grade.
General News
- Denver Art Museum Trip is this Thursday, April 16th and WE NEED YOU! If you are available to chaperone this trip, which runs from 11am - 2pm, we would love to have you! Look for a flyer early this week or email Mr. Piza / Mr. Logan.
- WE NEED YOU - On the morning of Community Day, Saturday, April 18th, we will be hosting our 1st Annual DGS 5k Run/Walk at 8am and need as many volunteers as possible to help make this event a great one. Volunteers will help with set-up, aid stations, registration, and clean-up. Please contact Mr. Logan at [email protected] for more information. Thanks!
- Demonstration Day - Our 5k Run/Walk is also the day for students to present their learning on topics related to sustainability. We expect all 7th graders will be in attendance this Saturday to present their learning about philanthropy, health, and wellness. Please contact Mr. Piza or Mr. Logan with any extreme circumstances that would prevent your daughter or son from attending.
- The End-of-Year Camping Trip to Golden Gate Canyon State Park is coming up next month: May 19th - 21st. More information along with packing lists and description of activities will be coming soon. Contact Mr. Piza ([email protected]) if you have specific questions.
Reading
This week we will work will use primary sources to analyze what they can tell us about history. We will be working towards creating an end of year portfolio and this assignment will serve as an example of Reading 7.1.
Writing
We will finish writing historical narratives based on our trip and classwork around the Silk Road. We will also work on our argument essays based on our debate research. Both of these will serve as an artifact for writing work. (W.1, W.3)
History: All of our reading and writing work are part of our interdisciplinary work with economics and history in preparation for the CMAS social studies next week.
EfS
This is it! The 1st Annual DGS 5k Run/Walk to benefit Sandy's Food Bank is this coming Saturday! Students will be finalizing their research on philanthropy, health and wellness as they relate to sustainable decision-making. 7th grade Demonstrations will be presented during this event.
Math
We continue our study of probability this week as we calculate specific probabilities of chance events and complex events. Remember to check your student's SchoolNet account for quiz results and check here for assignments and lessons.
