Some quick items to start:
*We could use a couple of adults for this Wednesday. This is all day, but a great opportunity to see the rope course in action at Balarat. Only half of the students, mostly Ms. Simone's homeroom will got this time. The next trip for the other half is on Oct. 14th.
*We have no school on Friday.
*Pictures of the Zoo trip are starting to go up on the 7th grade site
On to the regular fun:
Math: Hi 7th grade families! This week in math we're putting together our knowledge of ratios and proportionality and combining it with an interest in shopping to solve multi-step rate and ratio problems. How much does something cost if its a percentage or fraction off? Is really a good deal? We're going to answer these questions this week.
Reading: This week, we are exploring the option of using happiness to measure economic success. We are also getting to understand the idea of happiness in general and the new science surrounding it. Students will be writing their own happiness narratives as well as using the material to continue to develop a portfolio around some of our key content standards. Students will be watching a video as well as reading an article (modified from the washington post). For more details click here to see this week's outline.
EfS: We are studying the material life cycle of products as part of our sustainable economics work. For an idea of a resource on the topic. Feel free to visit www.storyofstuff.org. It should be noted that this is a strong opinion piece and we are clear to let students know that.
