Reading and Writing: This week in math, we will be completing our Bullying Unit by working through a series of tasks that represent all of our basic reading skills/standards. This document will be a portfolio item for Parent Teacher Conferences. Our next unit will be an exploration of sustainable economics from the perspective of a the material life cycle of products. Our writing will shift over to the fine art of crafting arguments.
Math: This week in math we're starting our 2nd unit on ratios and proportions. On Friday we began a conceptual understanding of the difference between when something is constant or proportional versus varying by running laps in two different scenarios: one at a constant speed and one at a sprint then walk sprint then walk. This conceptual understanding is important because by the end of the week they should be able to look at tables and graphs and determine if the situation is proportional or not. Some good IXL skills for this topic are K.2 and K.6
EfS: Students are wrapping up their systems projects. They have chosen school systems and will be making recommendations about how to make these systems better.
Sports: There is a cross country meet this Tuesday and a Soccer match this Thursday.
Extra: The Culture Festival is this Thursday as well. Feel free to spend some time just having fun with food, dancing and more.
