Hello 7th grade!
Sorry for the delay. Getting our list up and running took longer than expected. Every week, we will send an update and are happy to answer questions as they arise. Excursions: Nothing yet to report, but there a few on the horizon. Once the dates and times are confirmed, I will list them here. Sports: Cross Country and Boys Soccer are getting practices up and running. Feel free to still get physicals in. Tutoring: Tuesday tutoring will get started in a couple weeks. More information to come. EfS: Students are getting started with the systems thinking unit. They will tackle many school wide systems and attempt to provide solutions. Our model system will be "bullying" and we prevent it from happening. Reading and Writing: Reading Boot Unit: we work with the full range of genres and establish our reading routines and rituals. By the end we have a longer Interim completed, Istation testing and our first major writing assignment completed (narrative piece). All of the reading will relate to the EfS work in bullying. Some students will start coming home with Home work assignments in planners. Feel free to check the planner for my signature to verify. Math: Welcome 7th grade families! This week in math we are gearing up to dive into true 7th grade content next week. We will review fractions, decimals, and percents, learn about the difference between a fixed and growth mindset, and also review how we model our mathematics using bar models. Expect homework to start next week but there will be none this week. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to e-mail me at[email protected] This will also post to our weebly site under blog. |
