- Have you heard about the 100 MILE CLUB?! ITS AWESOME! The 100 Mile Club is a program offering the challenge to run/walk/jog 100 miles over the course of a school year. Click here for more information. Most of our students are approaching the 25-mile mark after a lot of hard work. If you haven't already, please send your child with $10 for the cost of the program which includes a sweet t-shirt after completing 25 miles, a club pencil, wristband, and gold medal at the end of the year for participants who complete 100 miles. If you have questions, contact Mr. Logan.
Reading
We will be reading chapters 4-9 and discussing how the various story elements affect each other. We will also have our first Literature Circles this friday. Students will be assigned roles in addition to discussion questions that they bring to the conversation. Students should still (all year) read 20 minutes each night that there is school as a way to keep flexing their reading muscles. Recent Assessment Information from the Interims is available on schoolnet.
Writing
We will begin our informative writing with a focus on writing about what we read. The unit will eventually culminate in a companion writing to a piece of literature.
EfS
This week, we'll take what we've learned about sustainable decision-making and begin a unit called Inventing the Future of Snacks. Its an exciting unit and will be the focus of our Demonstration Night. Students will make excellent connections between science, math and language arts while creating a snack concept and refining their ideas with the help of Johnson & Wales University chefs.
