Upcoming Events
- Spring break is next week. There is also a teacher training on the Monday after spring break so there is no school from 3/26 - 4/2.
- The talent show is this Friday from 9-10AM in the gym. Parents are welcome to attend, especially if their student is performing.
- 7th grade puts on a running/walking race that is on community day Saturday 4/21. We do it to raise money for Ms. Sandy's food bag program at DGS. There is a suggested $5 donation to enter. We'd love to get lots of support from 7th grade families! 7th graders will also be selling some snack products that they've made.
- The camping trip at the end of the year is fast approaching. We will have lots more information and forms coming soon. We go the last week of school (5/29-31) for 3 days 2 nights in Pine, Colorado. If you'd like to be a chaperone for all or part of the trip please start to get in touch with us soon.
Math (Wagner):
Topics = This week and the week after spring break we are reviewing key 7th grade content in order to maek sure we are the most prepared we can be for PARCC testing. I've found that MS students work best when topic are reviewed and more cyclical. So far the review has been going well.
Essential Questions = How is the review going? Are you feeling confident for PARCC?
IXL skills = Your student has IXL skills that they are working on a bit each day. They could work on this skill list at home too.
Reading/Writing (Piza):
Topics = We will be starting a new unit this week. Students will have a book assigned and begin working in groups to read and discuss their novels. The novels will be dystopian sci-fi with central characters who are young people. This will serve as a guiding question, "How can young people help their world". They will also be writing literary essays.
Essential Questions = Please check in with students about their novels and ensure that they are reading at home.
Science (Leventhal):
Topics = Students will be comleting their Procedure, Background research and hypothesis sections
Essential Questions = What section of your project are you working on?
Education for Sustainability (EfS, Wagner)
Topics = We're moving full steam ahead with our snack projects. Each group should have their snack idea ready to go and their jobs are assigned. For the next few weeks each student will be completing different deliverables based on their job for their group.
Essential Questions = What is your group doing for your snack project.
