- International Towne is coming in 9 days on Thursday, January 29th! We will take a trip to Young Americans Bank in Cherry Creek North to participate in a great opportunity to explore global economies and interdependence. We will need as many volunteers as possible to attend this great event! Please contact Mr. Piza or Mr. Logan for more information.
- Thursday Folders are coming home! 7th graders should be bringing home returned work along with any announcements every Thursday with a signature page for parents / guardians. Be sure to sign and return the page so your student is not asked to stay in Overtime after school. Also, this is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours preparing Thursday folders! Contact Mr. Logan if you have free time Thursday mornings to help.
- Here's another 100 Mile Club plug! Most students have passed the 25-mile mark and simply need to pay the $10 fee to receive a 100 Mile Club T-Shirt. Click here for more information and please send in $10 if you haven't already (checks can be made out to DPS).
Reading
We continue to read history as a way to deal with non-fiction. This week, we will finish looking at some articles about Assyrians and their siege of Jerusalem. As we read these, students are being asked to use text evidence and evaluate the quality of the sources as they seek to answer what happened during this event. We also continue to grow our Greek and Latin roots.
Writing
Students should be transitioning from drafting these long works and begin considering goals for revision and editing of the final product.
EfS
In this short week, we are counting down to our trip to International Towne (Jan. 29th) and finalizing details about the countries each student will represent and their duties when we arrive.
Math
We're continuing to approach math class thru a menu and students are improving in their ability to choose the kinds of tasks that are keeping them busy and challenged. We continue to look at equivalent expressions this week and properties of equations, including the distributive property. Remember to check your student's SchoolNet account for quiz results and check here for assignments and lessons. We are in lessons 20 and 21 this week. Remember, tutoring is held Tuesday afternoons, 3:45-4:45!
