This week in 7th grade:
Academic Detention: Overtime has changed to "Academic Detention". Aside from the name change, the program is the same, encouraging nudge that helps to promote accountability for completing work. There will be a written notice that gets sent home today.
Math: This week in math we're going to focus on determining if measurements form a proportional relationship or not. First we will start off with data given in table format, then we will move on to completing the tables ourselves from information given in word problems. We will have time to do independent work during each class time and students are expected to finish this work at home for homework. Students should expect to have some work leftover each day for homework. I am still checking and initialing their planners this week to make sure they have their assignments written correctly.
Reading and Writing: We are continuing our reading and writing bootcamp to remind ourselves and practice some our core skills with comprehension and essay writing. Our reading work is exploring the issue of sustainable economics with a particular emphasis on the material life cycle of products. Please feel free to check out storyofstuff.org for a sense of the content.
Dragon Trait of the Week: Self-Discipline
Education for Sustainability: Students will expand on the sustainable economics reading content with activities and mini-projects. This week we will look at Where our stuff comes from and the idea of extraction.
Excursions: No excursion this week, we did however enjoy our first outing for running as most students earned at least 3 miles between Thursday and Friday.
