Math: We're nearing the end of our algebra unit. Students made excellent progress last week working on using bar models to represent word problems and also using bar models to solve for an unknown variable. This week we're going to work on solving two step equations using inverse operations instead of bar models as more efficient method. Practice on this is IXL T.6 Two step equations.
We will then spend the end of the week on solve algebraic inequalities. IXL has some great practice on this including U.2, U.3, U.4, and U.5.
Our Unit 3 test will likely be on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. This is a huge unit so it'd be great if your student could start reviewing at home in preparation for the test. After this we're going to do a mini unit on percentages then probably move on to Geometry.
Reading and Writing: We are working on analyzing poetry and then using the information we collect to consider bigger literary moves like theme. In writing, we are wrapping up our literary essays comparing a poem and a short story. The essays are due this friday. (Not companion book students)
EfS: Students continue to learn about economics and preparing for International Towne. The trip is on Monday 2.21. The experience is a blast and we can definitely use chaperones. If interested, please email Ms. Kent at [email protected]
Science: Students are slowly developing their science projects.
