Welcome to the weekly 7th grade update! These emails are designed to keep you up to date on what's happening inside and outside the classroom here in the seventh grade.
- THANK YOU! Our 1st Annual DGS 5k Run/Walk to benefit Sandy's Food Bank at DGS was a great success. We raised $500 and had a fantastic event. Thanks to all families who came out to help!
- Parent Satisfaction Surveys went home last week and need to be returned as soon as possible. If you notice a large envelope in your student's backpack, that's probably it! Please complete the short form and return it to school .
- The End-of-Year Camping Trip to Golden Gate Canyon State Park is coming up soon: May 19th - 21st. More information along with packing lists and description of activities will be coming soon. Contact Mr. Piza (email@example.com) if you have specific questions.
- Testing continues this week with District Interims in Reading, Writing, and Math. Ensure your student is well rested and prepared to do her/his best!
We are starting Peter Pan which will serve as the main focus for the rest of the school year. Some students are reading the Argonautica. Both groups will be working with Standard 7.3 identifying story elements and analyzing how they interact. As we work, we are starting to create and populate our portfolios. Feel free to have students show you the work as it progresses. We will create a finished portfolio with about 13 entries before the school year is done.
We are taking our debate research and writing arguments.
We are getting ready for our camping trip and finishing the research component of our Race Unit.
We will be spending this last month reviewing key 7th grade topics and taking a more complete look at concepts in Geometry - angle relationships, volume and surface area of 3-dimensional shapes and circles. Remember to check your student's SchoolNet account for quiz results and check here for assignments and lessons.
None this week due to testing.
Have a great week!
