We hope everybody had an enjoyable break. We are excited to be back and working!
Excursions: Tuesday next week is the International Towne trip. We can use a few volunteers for this day. It is from 9:30-1:30 and the simulation is lots of fun to watch.
Reading and Writing: This week we will be analyzing change in characters and working to finish a draft of our first literary essays. Students have been tearing through their novels and some have started reading the second or even third book in their series!
Math: This week were continuing where we left off in our algebra unit. Monday we'll start off with a review of major topics we've covered so far (combining like terms, solving one and two step equations, and distributive property) and then we'll move on to using our algebraic knowledge to think flexibly and make equivalent expression or equations. This is a tough topic but also exciting because we get to put together all of the skills we've been practicing. IXL has some great practice on this topic including skill R.11 and R.15. students should expect homework Tuesday-Thursday this week.
EfS: As stated above, students are finishing their work to prepare for International Towne. They all have their assigned countries and jobs and should be ready to go.
Sports: Basketball games are posted on the main DGS site.
Science: Students will begin selecting testable questions for their science fair projects. This project takes a while, but it is critical that students make each deadline along the way.
Extra: The school and PTA will be running a fund raiser through an organization called Apex running. Students will receive more information next week and will be challenged to run in the name of fund raising. Our next unit in EfS involves organizing a race, so we will be paying plenty of attention.
Thanks,
7th grade team
