This week we will be a little short, but still packed with a bunch of work!
Parent Teacher Conferences: Students have taken home sheets that help indicate the need to sign up for a conference next week. Please sign up here or request a call to help sign up over the phone. The PTC will be this week from Tuesday-Thursdays.
Math: First off I would like to thank so many students for taking advantage of the tutoring happening after school every Tuesday and Thursday. The students are getting some excellent help with getting their homework done correctly along with a review of the day's lesson =) For this week we're going to wrap up our geometry unit. On Monday we will focus on finding volume of three dimensional figures using the knowledge that base shape area times height is the volume (IXL AA.7 volume). We will then move on to slicing 3-D figures on Wednesday (Khan Academy skills posted on 7th grade math Google Classroom). On Thursday we will take a formative assessment on our understanding of geometry and then on Friday we will wrap up geometry skills with a test review. The following week we will move onto our final "new" unit of probability and data analysis.
Reading and Writing: This week we are moving along with reading our new novels about immigrant youth. We are also examining the cause and effect between individuals, events and ideas in nonfiction articles about Skilled labor in the US from overseas. Students will be finishing their latest literary analysis essays about their last novels (dystopian sci-fi books).
Science: Students should be making progress to help organize and research their science fair projects.
EfS: Students will be developing their snack projects as they attempt to justify their idea of what "good" means in food.
Thanks,
7th Grade Team
